The game was designed for Windows 95, and as such, is easy to get running on newer versions of Windows via Compatability Mode. All around, SimTown is a fun game, thats easy to pick up and play, and interesting to see the early beginings of The Sims franchise. You can invite the gangs to your sims town from the new Gangs Pie Menu or you can have your sims join them without. You can then choose where your Sim lives, and watch them go about their daily lives, and make sure they are happy.ĭisasters and "Eco-Vilians" can spring up in your town too, which will require you to deal with those throughout the game as well. Players can design their own Sim in the game, with limited options, name them, choose a pet, and likes and dislikes, etc. The game also has features that are very similar to The Sims games released years later.
These credits allow you to aquire necessary resources to expand your town. The game has 2 difficulites, easy, and hard, with the main difference being that "Hard" requires you to more carefully spend an alotted number of credits that regenerate throughout gameplay. Being aimed at a younger audience than that of the other games within the series a greater emphasis is placed on managing a. As in prior installments, players are tasked as the mayor of a newly formed municipality, taking charge of it's expansion and success.
While that statement might be partially true, its worth noting that SimTown can still be a lot of fun to play, especially if youre a fan of the more modern Sims games, and want to see where they got their roots. SimTown is one of several entries in the city-building simulation series, SimCity. SimTown came out in 1995, and is often described as a watered down version of SimCity.
